Transnational skills standards in port operations for IORA countries

A technical workshop was successfully held in Canberra and Sydney from 16-19 November 2015 as part an Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) project to develop transnational standards on port operations for the Indian Ocean Rim region.

Ten government and port industry sector representatives from IORA member countries: Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka participated in a four-day workshop.

The development of transnational occupational standards in the project supports the skill development needs in the maritime sector, allowing IORA partner countries to meet local industry skills needs and support industry, trade and skilled labour mobility across the Indian Ocean Rim and beyond.
