Thirteen Australian Professors have been selected to visit India in the first cohort of the Indian Government’s Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) program. They are as follows:

• Dr Sanjay Kumar Shukla from the Faculty of Fundamentals of Geosynthetic Engineering, Edith Cowan University, will visit IIT Bhubaneshwar.

• Dr. Hemanta Doloi, Senior Lecturer, Property, Construction and Project Management from the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, University of Melbourne will visit IIT Guwahati.

• Prof Paul Arthur, Prof and Chair, Digital Humanities at University of Western Sydney will visit IIT Indore.

• Prof. Tapan Kumar Saha from The University of Queensland, Professor Bithin Datta from James Cook University and Professor Basant Maheshwari from Western Sydney University will visit IIT Kharagpur.

• Prof. Geoffrey Brooks from Swinburne University of Technology, Dr. James Leibold from La Trobe University, Prof. Peter D Hodgson from Deakin University and Prof José L. Torero from University of Queensland will visit IIT Madras.

• Prof Christopher C Verndt from Swinburne University of Technology will visit IIT Ropar.

• Prof. Muthupandian Ashokkumar from University of Melbourne and Prof Ian Gibson from Deakin University will visit NIT Warangal.

GIAN is a program of Government of India aimed at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs, internationally to encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India so as to augment the country’s existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reform, and elevate India’s scientific and technological capacity to global excellence.
