Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

India is the second most represented country in the newly expanded Times Higher Education BRICS and Emerging Economies University Rankings, with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) becoming the first Indian institute to break into the top 15.

In our previous editions, we looked at the Indian Institute of Science. This time we look at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay which has also made to the Times Higher Education Rankings.

In India’s National Institute of Ranking Framework 2016, IIT, Bombay has been ranked the number two engineering Institution in India. Established in the year 1958, IIT Bombay is the second oldest IIT in India and was the first to be set up with foreign assistance.

The programmes and courses offered at the institute have the flexibility to evolve and change in response to new requirements. The credit-based academic programmes at the institute offer flexibility to students to progress at their own pace.

It is the most preferred IIT by students taking Computer Science and Engineering. Among all other engineering institutes in the country, including the other IITs, IIT Bombay has one of the best placements in the country.

The International Relations Office of the institute coordinates all international activities of IIT Bombay, including developing and defining relationships and collaborations with foreign universities for education and research programs, managing student and faculty exchange programmes with partner institutions and cultural linkages and administer foreign language courses for students and staff of IITB.
