First roll out of ITAC pilot

The Australian Retail College has conducted the first pilot of the International Trainer and Assessor Courses (ITAC) in south India.Based on an Australian Certificate IV, these courses are aligned with Indian training qualifications allowing Australian training organisations to work with Indian partners to help meet India’s skills needs.

“The response from the participants of this training has been very positive.” said Sam Freeman, VP Business Development for ARC India. “For experienced trainers the ITAC program offers a chance for them to certify their existing skills as well as develop an understanding of more advanced training concepts -something not widely available in India right now.”

The ITAC are a set of internationally-relevant courses developed by the Australian Government, in partnership with industry, to help meet the global demand for skilled trainers and assessors. They were developed in consultation with the national Skills Development Corporation India (NSDC), supporting NSDC’s mission to fulfill the growing need for skilled workers in India and narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills.

The three ITAC courses fulfill different training and assessment needs. The TVET Trainer Course and TVET Assessor Course provide participants with vocational background skills to train or assess learners in their industry of expertise. The TVET Advanced Trainer and Assessor Course provide participants skills to take a leadership role within an organisation, enterprise or industry.
