IITs asked to partner industries for funding research projects

The Union Ministry for Human Resource and Development has reportedly earmarked Rs.250 crore per annum for fostering “very high quality” research in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) under the ‘Uchatar Avishkar Yojna’ program, which will match industry partners with institutions of excellence.

The research has to have “clearly defined outcome” and 25 per cent of the expenses have to be borne by an industry partner.
