Bluebells School Partnership with Australian SchoolsWed 2nd March 2016

A relationship with Australia which started in year 2000 with the school participation in the Australia India School Leaders Professional Learning Program grew steadily over the years. Blue Bells now has strong relationship with two Australian schools, namely Rangebank Primary School – the first Australian school to introduce Hindi language and Cooinda Primary School.

Over the years what began as learning from each other has moved forward to building cultural bridges across the two continents.

Students of grade V do a weekly Skype with Rangebank School, Cranbourne Victoria. Come Thursday morning and students at both schools settle down to chat with each other about matters that range from cricket, to exploring the physical features of each other’s country, to the books they read and many more. Singing Christmas carols together they go on virtual tours of each other’s school.

The relationship with Cooinda has come a full circle as we signed a MOU as sister schools. When Ms Anne Fletcher, the Principal at Cooinda Primary School along with two teachers from her school visited Bluebells in Sept. 2015, it was an alliance that began in 2009 that was flowering. The visit initiated by the Australian Department of Education and Training (DET) had taken wings independently. During their 10 weeks visit they worked with the students at Bluebells, learning and sharing with teacher’s classroom management strategies and techniques of and tools of assessment. The school also introduced Ms. Ann to White Druk School in Leh for further collaboration opportunities. As an outcome of this shared learning experience six teachers from Bluebells are looking forward to spending their summer in June 2116 at Cooinda, to learn more about pedagogy and effective classroom practices.
