Alumni Ambassadors appointed for Australian ScholarshipsWed 18th February 2015
Official launch of the Endeavour and Australia Awards Ambassadors program by Acting Australian High Commissioner to India, Mr Bernard Phillip
On 18 February, the Acting Australian High Commissioner to India, Bernard Phillip appointed 23 successful alumni of Australian Government scholarships to promote even greater reach for the programmes in India and South Asia.
The Endeavour and Australia Awards Ambassadors will be visiting leading research and higher education institutions to discuss their experiences with top Indian students, faculty and administrators.
Based on the success of the Ambassador programme in 2014, the initiative has been expanded to India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Bhutan. In 2015, 15 Ambassadors from India and two each from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan have been appointed.
The Endeavour and Australia Awards Scholarships are awarded by the Australian Government to high-achieving students, researchers and professionals from around the world each year to study in Australia’s world-class education institutions or undertake a professional development program.
The awards were presented at a Gala Dinner to celebrate the Australia-India education relationship. Mr Philip also recognised the achievements of two outstanding alumni, Ms Lina Ashar, Founder, Kangaroo Kids, and Mr Amit Ranjan, Associate Professor, Delhi University. The dinner was preceded by a workshop for the Endeavour and Australia Awards Ambassadors to discuss their roles.
